Edward Graves


Edward Graves, a native of Oxon Hill, Maryland, is a Baumgartner Studio Artist at the Florentine Opera. This season at Florentine Opera, he will perform the roles of St. Brioche in The Merry Widow, Shepherd/Sailor in the baroque double bill of Venus and Adonis/Dido and Aeneas, and 2nd Priest/ 1st Armed Man in The Magic Flute. He will also be featured in the Viva Opera concert as well as perform the role of Buzz/ Child in the new children’s opera A Busy Bee written and composed by Ruben Piirainen. This past summer, he was a Young Artist at The Glimmerglass Festival, where he sang the role of Peter and covered the role of Robbins in Porgy and Bess and sang the role of Fred in Oklahoma! In February 2017, he sang the role of Grimoaldo in a new production Handel’s Rodelinda conducted by Gary Wedow at Indiana University. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Towson University, where he studied with Aaron Sheehan, a Master of Music and Performer Diploma degree from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music where he studied with Patricia Havranek. In August 2018, he will make his Seattle Opera debut as Robbins in Porgy and Bess.
