Alessandra Volpe

Mezzo Soprano

A recent (2008) graduate of the Conservatorio Nicola Piccinni in Baria in piano and voice, Alessandra Volpe as already attracted interest among Italian opera professionals. The current season includes appearances in Cagliari, Cosenza and Cremona as Maddalena in Rigoletto and Isabella in L’Italiana in Algeri with ASLICO Opera Company on tour in Como, Cremona, and Pavia. She has also appeared at Teatro alla Scala, Milan in their production of Die Lustige Witwe, with Parca della Musica in Rome with the Accademica Santa Caecilia as Clothilde in Norma, Teatro Massimo Palermo in their production of Madama Butterfly, and Teatro Petruzzelli in their production of La Cenerentola.

Ms. Volpe began her professional career while still a student, appearing with the Teatri di Bari in their productions of Mahagonny, Suor Angelica Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortileges, all.directed by Daniele Abbado, and Debussy’s L’Damoiselle Elue directed by Fabio Mastrangelo.

On the concert stage, she has appeared as a soloist in performances of Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Cosenca, and in performances with the Collegium Musicum, the Rome Sinfonietta, valeria Martina and the Fiorilegium in works the include the Vivaldi Gloria, Pergolesi Stabat Mater, Mozart Requiem, and Cafaro Stabat Mater.
