Georgia Jarman
Soprano
Hailed by the New York Times for her “luminous, appealing, and agile voice,” and crystalline coloratura, Georgia Jarman makes her English National Debut as the Three Heroines in a new production Les contes d’Hoffman in the 2011-12 season. Also this season, she sings her first performances of the titles roles of Lucia de Lammermoor with Atlanta Opera and Manon in a return to Ópera de Colombia as well as returns to Florentine Opera for Elettra in Idomeneo and Musetta in La bohème with the Pacific Symphony. In the 2010-11 season, she sang her first performances of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni in a return to Dallas Opera followed by subsequent performances of the role with Florida Grand Opera and the Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro with Nashville Opera. She also returned to her acclaimed portrayal of Violetta in La traviata with Minnesota Opera and to the Caramoor Music Festival for Josephine in H.M.S. Pinafore.
She has appeared numerous other times at Caramoor Music Festival as Adina in L’elisir d’amore, Amenaide in Tancredi, Violetta in La traviata, the title role in Handel’s Deidamia, Norina in Don Pasquale, and Amina in La sonnambula in performances conducted by Will Crutchfield. She also joined the conductor at Polish National Opera to reprise her performances in Tancredi and for Mathilde in Guillaume Tell and at Ópera de Colombia for Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia.
The soprano’s other recent engagements include Heroines in Les contes d'Hoffmann in a return to Polish National Opera, as well as Boston Lyric Opera and Ópera de Colombia; Giulietta in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Gilda in Rigoletto, and Marie in La fille du regiment with Florentine Opera; the title role in Thais, Violetta in La traviata, and Micaela in Carmen with Palm Beach Opera; Amelia in Gustave III Ou Le Bal Masque with Opéra de Metz; Adina in L’elisir d’amore, and Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, and Cunegonde in Candide with New York City Opera. She has joined Ópera de Colombia for Mimi in La bohème and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni; New Orleans Opera for Mimi in La bohème and Violetta in La traviata; Portland Opera for Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Eurydice in Philip Glass’ Orphée (released commercially by Orange Mountain Music); Den Nye Opera for further performances of Violetta in La traviata; Cincinnati Opera for Musetta in La bohème and Madame Mao in Nixon in China, Brooklyn Academy of Music for Elisetta in Il matrimonio segreto; and both Opera Grand Rapids and Pensacola Opera for Nedda in Pagiliacci. Additionally, she has previously joined the Metropolitan Opera for its productions of Il barbiere di Siviglia and La rondine.
On the concert stage, she has appeared with Robert Spano conducting Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in performances of Musetta in La bohème (released commercially on the Telarc label) and returned for Orff’s Carmina burana and excerpts of Il barbiere di Siviglia. She made her Avery Fisher Hall debut as Rozenn in Lalo’s Le roi d’Ys with the American Symphony Orchestra. She has also joined the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra for Handel’s Messiah and the Portland Symphonic Choir for Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem.
She received a Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music and her Bachelor of Music from Boston University.
