The Young Singing Actor Intensive

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Young Singing Actor Intensive will take place Monday, July 31, 2017 through Friday, August 4, 2017 from 9:00am to 4:00pm at the Wayne & Kristine Lueders Florentine Opera Center. It will include workshops and training designed for students interested in pursuing advanced vocal studies. All students grades 9-12 are invited to apply. General Director, William Florescu, Florentine Artistic Staff, and invited clinicians will provide each student: individual or group voice lessons, musical and dramatic coaching, workshops, and master classes. In addition, the final evening of the program will feature a recital open to friends and family featuring group ensembles and solo performances from operatic and classical vocal repertoire.

Interested students should submit their resume to Pablo Siqueiros, Education & Community Engagement Manger, at psiqueiros@florentineopera.org by March 24, 2017 to be eligible for an audition on Sunday, April 2, 2017. At the audition, students must be prepared to offer two memorized pieces – one preferably from the classical repertoire. Your assigned audition time will be emailed to you shortly after your resume is received and reviewed.

2017-2018 General and Chorus Auditions

The Florentine Opera Company announces general and chorus auditions in Milwaukee for its 2017-2018 season. The mainstage season will feature The Merry Widow, October 20 & 22, 2017; Venus and Adonis/Dido and Aeneas, January 26, 28, 31, February 2 & 4, 2018; Prince of Players, March 16 & 18, 2018; The Magic Flute, May 11 & 13, 2018. Additional performance opportunity includes the @ the Center Series, which will occur in November 2017.

Auditions will be held Wednesday, May 24th (2-7pm) and Thursday, May 25 th (11am-4pm) at the Wayne and Kristine Lueders Florentine Opera Center, 926 E. Burleigh, Milwaukee. The Florentine Opera will provide an accompanist.

Singers interested in auditioning must submit resume, headshot, audition arias and audition date preference to lhanson@florentineopera.org. Auditions are by appointment only and must be scheduled in advance. The Florentine Opera Chorus follows the guidelines set forth by the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA). Potential choristers must be in good standing with AGMA or be willing to join AGMA.
