Studio Artist and Summer Concert Residency 2017-2018 Program


The Florentine Opera provides both a summer and season-long, comprehensive artist-in-residence employment for talented singers beginning their professional careers, while serving the performance goals of the Florentine Opera Company. The Florentine Opera Studio allows promising singers experience and training to facilitate their professional growth in the opera art form. Each summer and production season, four singers (soprano, mezzo, tenor, baritone/bass) participate in these programs.

Studio Artist Program Basics

• September 2017 – May 2018
• Full-time artist residency
• Studio Artists will perform supporting roles, and/or sing in the chorus, in the Florentine Opera’s 2017-2018 main-stage productions.
• Feature in the subscription Studio Artist subscription series performances.
• Studio Artists will also perform roles in the touring in-school production.
• Additional performances include, but are not limited to:
o Perform at Florentine Opera community engagement events.
o Perform at Board meetings and various donor events throughout the season.
• Coach music with members of the Florentine Opera’s music staff.
• Studio Artists must be available to participate in the program for the entire length of the contract dates.
• Studio Artists must be in good standing, or willing to join AGMA for main-stage purposes.

Summer Concert Residency Program Basics

• June 5th – July 30th 2017
• Part-time artist residency (mandatory participation in all performances and coachings)
• Perform at Florentine Opera community engagements events.
• Master class opportunities
• Coach music with members of the Florentine Opera’s music staff.

Compensation

• Artists for either program receive a weekly stipend and furnished housing in a shared house. Each singer will be provided with his or her own private bedroom.

Application and Audition Information

• Please complete the YAP Tracker online application form by January, 27th, 2017
• Auditions will take place on March 16th and 18th, 2017 in Milwaukee, WI USA
• Please prepare two arias, with one being in English. A pianist is provided.
