AURELIA ANDREWS, Pianist

American pianist Aurelia Andrews enjoys a varied and dynamic career as a highly sought-after coach, collaborator, and conductor. A native of Olathe, Kansas, she studied music from a young age. She was a two-time winner of the Kansas City Symphony's concerto competition, and was a recipient of the prestigious Reid Nibley Scholarship at Brigham Young University. After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance, she went on to receive a Master’s degree in Opera Coaching from the University of Texas-Austin, where she was a staff pianist on multiple productions, under the tutelage of Kelly Kuo, Kathleen Kelly, and Tamara Sanikidze. As part of her studies, Aurelia also participated in the collaborative piano program Oberlin in Italy in Arezzo, Italy as well as the collaborative piano program at The Aspen Music festival where she worked with some of the top voice teachers and coaches in the country.

A graduate of the LA Opera Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program and the Glimmerglass Festival Young Artist Program, Aurelia has since served on the music staff of numerous opera companies, both in the United States and in Germany, including the Santa Fe Opera, The Dallas Opera, LA Opera, Utah Opera, Opera Theatre St. Louis, The Glimmerglass Festival, Pacific Opera Project, and served as a repetiteur for the Theater und Orchester Heidelberg, in Heidelberg Germany.

Aurelia served four seasons as the Youth Chorus Master at the Glimmerglass Festival, where she conducted Ben Moore's The Odyssey, the world premiere of Ben Moore's Robin Hood, and Noah's Flood by Benjamin Britten. As a musical director, Aurelia conducted Intermountain Opera's production of Camelot.

Aurelia has been the returning pianist for the Dallas Opera Vocal Competition and the Hart Institute for Women Conductors. She has been a guest lecturer and coach at the University of Texas-Austin, University of North Texas, Cedar Rapids Opera, and the University of Iowa, and as a recital artist she has upcoming performances in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Frankfurt Germany.
