Well, the company’s production of Semele last weekend–our first baroque opera–was exhilarating, exhausting, and ultimately quite rewarding. The audience response was quite palpable (in a positive way!), and to see this 350 year old music come alive in a most contemporary, inventive way, reminded me why I do this. However, there is no time to rest and ruminate – we already have The Magic Flute in our sights, and preparation is already well under way.

The Florentine staff, both production and administrative, deserve kudos for bringing Semele to the stage in a space that we don’t usually use. A big thanks to you, the public, and to the large and enthusiastic crowds that came and supported us last weekend!
