Last Friday, the tour stopped at Aquinas Academy in Menomonee Falls, where the Florentine Opera was presented with the following document, read aloud by students and signed by the Menomonee Falls Village Board President:
PROCLAMATION FOR THE FLORENTINE OPERA ON THE EVENT OF THEIR PERFORMANCE AT THE AQUINAS ACADEMY
WHEREAS, the Florentine Opera is one of the oldest professional performing arts organizations in Wisconsin; and
It will be celebrating its 76th Anniversary during the 2009-2010 season.
The Florentine has a program called “Opera on the Go” which travels to schools in teh metropolitan area.
Opera on the go provides, among other things:
- A vital supplement to local arts education;
- Commitment to providing educations with opportunities to utilize opera in order ot meet education standards;
- Exposure to opera as an art form;
- A multitude of opportunities for self-expression:
- A connection to state and local academic standards.
The Florentien performed at Aquinas Academy in Menomonee Falls on March 26, 2010;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Randall R. Newman, Village Board President of the Village of Menomonee Falls, on behalf of the Village Board of Trustees and the Village of Menomonee Falls, do hereby welcome the Florentine Opera and their Opera on the Go to our community.
