Enhance your opera experience and get behind-the-scenes perspectives by attending one of our insightful community outreach programs. Learn little known facts, get hints on what to listen for and hear tantalizing musical excerpts, as we present OPERA AROUND TOWN.
SEASON SAMPLER
Held in early fall each year, this free Season Sampler provides attendees with a glimpse of the upcoming season. OPERA INSIGHTS
(The Marriage of Figaro Opera Insight: April 17, 7PM at Boswell and April 20, 12:30PM at Wauwatosa Library)
Opera Insights are FREE presentations given at two Milwaukee area locations – the Wauwatosa Public Library (7635 West North Ave. Wauwatosa, WI 53213) and Boswell Books (2559 North Downer Avenue Milwaukee, WI 53211). Opera Insights take a closer look at the upcoming show. Each 45-minute program contains a detailed synopsis, background on the opera and live musical selections preformed by the Florentine Opera Studio Artists. Attendees are treated to arias, duets and small ensembles performed by Florentine Opera Chorus members. TALK OPERA
(The Marriage of Figaro events: May 10 and 12 in the Magin Lounge, prior to performance for ticket holders)
Corliss Phillabaum, Professor of Theater at UW Milwaukee’s Peck School of the Arts, talks about each opera in-depth one hour before curtain prior to each mainstage performance for all ticket holders. Professor Phillabaum keeps Florentine audiences returning to the Magin Lounge, for his unique perspective at each opera’s lecture. Talk Opera is FREE with each ticket purchase.
