The Florentine Opera's High School Master Class
After nearly a decade of growing success, the Florentine Opera is excited to announce the expansion of its High School Master Class program!
The High School Master Class program is specifically designed to meet the needs of the gifted young singer, interested in gaining knowledge and pursuing continued education in the vocal arts medium. Our objective is to provide guidance and mentorship while nurturing vocalists with professional experiences. Following an audition process, select students will participate in a series of workshops with Florentine Opera Artistic Staff. Solo and ensemble music will be featured on a public concert at the Wayne & Kristine Lueders Florentine Opera Center. Additional participants will be selected to participate in a two-hour master class led by William Florescu (General Director of the Florentine Opera Company). All students attending the High School Master Class enjoy the opportunity to learn helpful vocal and auditioning techniques, and are encouraged to ask questions and gain insight into the world of vocal performance and opera.
Students must submit application and a written recommendation from private voice teacher and/or choral director. Further written recommendations from high school representatives are welcome. After thorough review of submitted applications, a total of 30 students will be asked to audition for the Master Class program. If selected for an audition, students must be prepared to perform two (2) selections (preferably from the operatic repertoire).
After the audition process is complete, selected students will be notified of their place within the program. Participants will receive musical coaching on solo and ensemble repertoire. All selected singers will participate in the public performance at the conclusion of the program.
