High School Masterclass

The Florentine Opera's High School Masterclass is specifically designed to meet the needs of the gifted young singer interested in gaining knowledge and pursuing continued education in the vocal arts medium. Our objective is to provide guidance and mentorship and to nurture vocalists with professional experiences. Following an audition process, four students are selected to receive private vocal coaching's provided by the Florentine Opera. The program culminates in a two-hour masterclass led by William Florescu, General Director of the Florentine Opera Company. All students attending the masterclass enjoy the opportunity to learn helpful vocal and auditioning techniques, and are able to ask questions and gain insight into the world of vocal performance and opera.

To Apply:

Students must submit application and a written recommendation from private voice teacher and/or choral director. Further written recommendations from high school representatives are welcome. After thorough review of submitted applications, a total of 30 students will be asked to audition for the Masterclass program for a panel. 

Applications are due Tuesday, November 1, 2011.

 Auditions will take place Sunday, November 20, 2011.

After the audition process is complete, a total of four students will be selected to receive:

• Private vocal coachings provided by the Florentine Opera.
• An opportunity to perform at the Masterclass on Sun, March 25, 2012.
• Additional public performance opportunities with the Florentine Opera.

ALL students invited to audition are welcome and strongly encouraged to attend the Masterclass in March.
