Opera Inside Out
Suitable for Middle and High School-aged students
This highly interactive program gives Middle and High School
students a behind-the-scenes look at all the elements that contribute
to producing opera, and it also introduces students to career
opportunities on and off the stage.
Opera Inside Out is a modular
program focusing on a range of areas including stage direction,
costumes, make-up, lighting design, props, vocal performance and arts
administration. The program culminates with a chance for all
participating students to attend one of the Florentine Opera’s
mainstage productions.
In spring 2009, highschool students at the Downtown Institute of Arts and Letters (DIAL High) learned about The Magic Flute, and had the opportunity to attend the Florentine's all-new production. As part of their studies, students created their own costume renderings for characters from The Magic Flute. Click here to see examples!
