Petr Zahradníček is a native of the Czech Republic. As a dancer, he worked with the National Theater in Prague (Czech Republic), Theater Vorpommern, Salzburg Ballet, Stadttheater Würzburg (Germany), Colorado Ballet and Milwaukee Ballet.
Petr has choreographed many pieces for Milwaukee Ballet, The Nancy Einhorn Milwaukee Ballet II Program and Milwaukee Ballet School & Academy. He has also created four pieces for Ballet Memphis in Tennessee. Petr has choreographed and collaborated with other Milwaukee area art groups including Danceworks, Master Singers of Milwaukee, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and Present Music.
In 2007, Petr received a grant from the New York Choreographic Institute, an affiliate of New York City Ballet. Petr is a three-time finalist at McCallum’s Choreography Festival in California and two-time winner of the Paid Engagement Award. In 2012 and 2013, Petr presented two full length programs of his work at the McCallum Theater.
This summer, Petr was one of four choreographers selected for the 10th anniversary season of The National Choreographers Initiative in Irvine, California.
Petr is currently a Choreographer in Residence with Milwaukee Ballet.
