William Boggs is consistently praised by critics as “daring,” “sensual,” “enlightened,” and “superbly musical.” He conducted the world premier of Robert Aldridge’s Elmer Gantry with Nashville Opera and a remount with at Florentine Opera of Milwaukee. The Milwaukee production of Elmer Gantry was released on the Naxos label in July, 2011 to great critical acclaim including three Grammy nominations, two Grammy awards, and “Best Opera Recording of the Year” award by Opera News.
In addition he conducted Die Fledermaus with Opera Carolina and Mississippi Opera, Philip Glass’ Fall of the House of Usher, Student Prince, and Madama Butterfly with Nashville Opera, Pirates of Penzance with Indianapolis Opera, and Aida for the Fresno Grand Opera. As Artistic Director at Opera Columbus productions included Aida, Pagliacci, Roméo et Juliette, The Merry Widow, La Cenerentola, Les Pêcheurs de Perles, and Le Nozze di Figaro. He recently conducted Les Pêcheurs de Perles, and Madama Butterfly, and The Pirates of Penzance for Nashville Opera and Giulio Cesare at the Florentine Opera.
Maestro Boggs previously conducted Elmer Gantry (2011) and Giulio Cesare (2014) at the Florentine Opera Company.
