Soprano Jamie-Rose Guarrine is acclaimed for her vibrant vocal beauty, charming stage presence, and accomplished musicianship. Of her portrayal of Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Opera News described her as “a natural object of attraction for the men in the play,” her voice as “light, flexible and vibrant — well suited to the part of a scheming maid and romantic ingénue.”
Guarrine has performed on the stages of Los Angeles Opera, Minnesota Opera, The Santa Fe Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, Opera Philadelphia, Chicago Opera Theater, Utah Opera, Fort Worth Opera, Madison Symphony, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, The National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica, Santa Fe Symphony, among many others. In recent seasons, Guarrine returned to Austin Lyric Opera and the Florentine Opera for her signature role of Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, as well as debuting with Opera Omaha in Die Zauberflöte and Opera Memphis in Lee Hoiby’s This is the Rill Speaking. Recently Guarrine performed the title role in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor with Opera Saratoga in New York, where “as the title character, soprano Jamie-Rose Guarrine possesses an utterly thrilling, agile voice. She commanded the famous Act 3 “mad scene” with pathos, beauty, and heartbreaking skill.” (Saratoga Wire) Guarrine “traversed the Fiakermilli’s coloratura flights with ease and clarity” (Opera News) in Minnesota Opera’s production of Richard Strauss’ Arabella, and returned to Opera Omaha as Poppea in Handel’s Agrippina. She also recently returned to Opera Fairbanks as Gretel in Hansel and Gretel and Florentine Opera as Adele in Die Fledermaus.
In concert, she performs Handel’s Messiah with Augustana College, Duke Chapel Choir, and the Jacksonville Symphony, Villa-Lobos’ Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 with the Wisconsin Philharmonic, and Haydn’s Creation with UW-Madison Choral Union.
