Mozart's Idomeneo marks the 2011-2012 Season finale

May 18 & 20, 2012  |  Uihlein Hall, Marcus Center for the Performing Arts

MILWAUKEE, Wis.—March 24, 2012— Set Sail with the Florentine for epic maritime adventure on the high seas as the 2012-2013 season concludes with Mozart's first masterpiece: Idomeneo.

The work tells an epic tale from mythical times, set in the waters of the Aegean Sea. In this life-and-death drama, Idomeneo, the Cretan king, makes an ill-fated pact with Neptune and is soon confronted with dire consequences.

The artistic team behind 2009’s innovative production of Semele reunites to create a dynamic new production.  Arturo Chacón-Cruz (praised for his captivating portrayal of the Duke in the Florentine’s Rigoletto 2010) returns to sing Idomeneo’s title role. Soprano Georgia Jarman (lauded for her ‘luminous, appealing and agile voice’ by the New York Times) also returns, making her role debut as the alluring but jealous Princess Elettra, as Joseph Rescigno conducts the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
