Studio Artists present a sneak peek at upcoming productions

MILWAUKEE, Wis.—Sept 7, 2010—The Florentine Opera opens the curtain on its upcoming season on October 22 with its powerful World Premiere opera, Río de Sangre, but audiences will have the chance to enjoy a sneak peek at an entire seasons’ worth of opera on Sunday, September 19 at 2:00 pm at a Florentine Opera 2010-2011 Season Sampler.  The ticketed event will be held at the Wayne & Kristine Lueders Florentine Opera Center in Riverwest (926 E. Burleigh).

An afternoon of beloved opera favorites and exciting new works awaits as Florentine Opera Studio Artists perform selections from Rossini’s charming comedy The Italian Girl in Algiers (presented onstage March 18-20, 2011) and a sumptuous Baroque double bill of John Blow’s Venus & Adonis and Henry Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas (presented onstage May 14-22, 2011). This season preview will also be one of the first chances that audiences have to hear live performances from Don Davis’s fiery Río de Sangre (presented onstage October 22-24, 2010).  In addition, Studio Artists will sing several selections from Golden Days, a nostalgic concert (presented onstage November 14 at 2:30 pm) that brings the lighthearted world of elegant songs, witty ensembles and rousing choruses of the American operetta to life.
