Watch 2023 Barber of Seville for Schools

Overview

The Florentine Opera Studio Artists present an adaptation The Barber of Seville

Gioacchino Rossini's most famous "opera buffa" tells the tale of a smitten Count Almaviva who is in love with the beautiful Rosina. The problem? Her Aunty Bartola forbids it! The Count enlists the help of the town barber, Figaro, to help him scheme. This musical masterpiece has a storyline that would be equally at home in a Hollywood rom-com.

The music will be performed in the original Italian, interspersed with dialogue in English. Students will get a chance to learn a few Italian words and will get to participate in the story from their seats.

The program runs 45 minutes, followed by a 10 minute Q&A.
