Baumgartner Studio Artist Residency – 2026/27 Season
The Baumgartner Studio Artist Residency is a prestigious, season-long, comprehensive artist-in-residence program for singers and pianists who are beginning their professional careers in opera.
Applications for the 2026/27 season will be accepted via YAP Tracker from July 21 through September 7, 2025.
We are seeking to engage the following artists for the 2026/27 program:
Soprano
Mezzo-soprano
Tenor
Baritone / Bass-baritone
Pianist (coach/accompanist)
While our hiring focus is on the above voice types, Contraltos, Countertenors, and Basses are welcome to audition for feedback and/or consideration for individual mainstage supporting roles.
Applicant Requirements:
Must be eligible to work in the United States at the time of application. If working under a visa, applicants must already possess an approved and current visa.
Availability for the full residency period: September 1, 2026 – May 28, 2027
While not required, successful applicants will typically have:
A completed master’s degree, performance certificate, or equivalent experience in vocal performance.
Prior experience performing opera at the graduate or emerging professional level

Summer Studio Ensemble
The Summer Studio Ensemble is an 8-week program for singers.
Applications for the 2025/26 season are closed. The Florentine Opera will announce auditions for the 2026/27 season in Fall 2025.

General and Chorus Auditions
The Florentine Opera is not currently accepting applications for its chorus or general auditions.
Chorus Auditions
The company typically holds annual auditions for experienced, classically trained singers in all voice categories to join its professional choral ensemble under the direction of Chorus Master Dr. Benjamin Rivera. As a proud member of the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA), the Florentine Opera compensates choristers for mainstage productions in accordance with AGMA’s established hourly rehearsal and per-performance rates and provisions.
General Auditions for Mainstage Roles
Managed artists interested in being considered for mainstage roles are invited to submit their materials to artistic@florentineopera.org. Artists are heard by invitation only, based on the company’s specific casting needs for upcoming seasons.
