DAVID Guzman, BASS

Puerto Rican bass David Guzman is a versatile solo and ensemble singer based in Milwaukee, WI. David was most recently seen making his role debut as Leporello in Mozart’s Don Giovanni in Puerto Rico before joining The Florentine Opera’s production of Rigoletto as both the Usher and a member of the chorus. Early in 2021, he performed the role of Truffaldin in Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. At CCM he also performed the role of Pistola in Falstaff, and the bass solo in Bach’s Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen (BWV 12) with the CCM Chamber Singers. Past engagements include Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro, Kecal in The Bartered Bride, Harpin in Lully/Le Grand’s La chûte de Phaëton, as well as the bass solos in Bach’s Christ lag in Todes Banden (BWV 4) and Jesu, der du meine Seele (BWV 78). As an ensemble singer, David formed part of the Puerto Rico Baroque Singers, a vocal octet he co-founded and directed, in addition to the Junges Stuttgarter Bach Ensemble and the Weimar Bach Cantata Academy Chorus, both in Germany. David Guzman holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music and a Master of Music Degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
