Grammy Award winning, Kansas City native David Morgans Sanchez is a promising young Afro-Latinx tenor who just finished residency with Portland Opera where he made his debut of Uncle Mac in Night Trip by Carlos Simon in addition to work as Ferrando in Cosí fan tutte, and Rodolfo in La Boheme (Puccini). In the previous season, Sanchez was a finalist in the Chicago Lyric’s Ryan Opera Center Auditions and was set to appear in the Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute’s masterclass series with Joyce Didonato. Sanchez was also a soloist in the Metropolitan Opera’s new production of The Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, and in Der fliegende Holländer. This season, Sanchez returns to the Met for his role in Porgy and Bess, a new production of Fire Shut Up in My Bones (McNally), Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Boris Godunov, and La Boheme.
