Job Description
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING
Manage details of in-school opera tour
Book and confirm details with schools/venues, disseminating pertinent venue information to performing artists (i.e. call times, directions) and oversee demographic numbers (i.e. attendance #’s), for the Florentine’s education, development and PR needs.
Participate in the in-school tour rehearsal process.
Work with scenic personnel, costume designer, stage director and singers during the process.
Oversee the evaluation process to ensure that the Florentine continues to provide valuable educational programs.
Manage administrative details of Baumgartner Studio Artists Program
Part of the management team
Set schedule and coordinate performances, coachings, rehearsals, etc.
Announce, schedule and assist with auditions.
Develop opera resources, including study guides, that can match curriculum requirements and assist educators in preparing students for Florentine Opera performances.
Facilitate introduction to opera sessions in classrooms for school residencies, Opera Inside Out
Work with teachers to select and prepare children’s chorus for Schools on Stage
ADULT ENRICHMENT
Deliver university-level learning opportunities for adult enrichment and edutainment
Lead Versed, Book Club, pre-show talks (adult learning opportunities)
Develop opera resources that enhance experience for all Florentine Opera performances.
GENERAL ADMINISTRATION
Work with leadership on adjusting and create programming to fit partner’s needs
Develop promotional materials (i.e. brochures, website content) with the marketing team
Attend Education Committee Meetings and help provide regular reports to the Florentine Opera Board of Directors through the Vice President of Education.
Knowledge and Skills
Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with all staff, management, artists, and the public in a professional and tactful manner. Maintain confidentiality and provide excellent customer service.
Ability to coordinate many tasks, setting appropriate priorities and completing work on schedule with attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, exercise judgment and initiative. Be a motivated self-starter who also works well in a larger team.
Ability to teach basic music to students of all ages.
Must be comfortable public speaking.
Knowledge of opera repertoire is required.
Demonstrate leadership in accordance with the Florentine's mission and vision. Must be a team player and be willing to help out teammates.

Driver’s license required.
Work Conditions
The job sometimes requires six-day workweeks as well as evenings during specific periods.
Assistance at company events
Sitting and standing for extended periods of time.
Ability to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other office equipment.
Ability to carry up to 40 pounds; transport and set up keyboards and other musical equipment.

Salary and Benefits
The Education Manager is a full‐time exempt position (salary $38,000-42,000 based on experience). The Florentine Opera offers generous benefits and a hybrid working environment.
