About Opera Without Limits (OWL)

Opera Without Limits (OWL) is a virtual education program for elementary-aged children with disabilities. Combining opera with music education and music therapy principles, OWL creates asynchronous content that is inclusive and engaging for home, classroom, or therapeutic use. Inspired by Miss Rachel, Sesame Street, The Wiggles, and Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, OWL is developmentally appropriate, accessible, emotionally supportive, creatively enriching, and free for families. Position Summary

The Florentine Opera seeks an Opera Without Limits Intern for summer 2026. This paid internship provides hands-on experience in educational content design and creation, community engagement, and arts accessibility. The intern will work closely with the Education & Community Engagement Manager to develop Episodes 4 and 5 of OWL.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning creative, accessible and developmentally appropriate video segments

  • Incorporate feedback from educators, therapists, and families

  • Support filming and production tasks

  • Collaborate with staff to ensure engaging, inclusive content

Who Should Apply

Advanced undergraduates (completed at least two years) or recent graduates with backgrounds in Music Education, Music Therapy, Special Education, or related fields. Ideal candidates are:

  • Passionate about accessible arts programming, digital content creation, early childhood development, and working with neurodiverse learners.

  • Creative, reliable, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.

  • Experienced in or eager to learn lesson planning, storyboarding, and curriculum design for children.

  • Able to integrate inclusive and developmentally appropriate instructional strategies, including visual supports, repetition, gesture cues, and multi-sensory approaches.

  • Strong communicators who can collaborate with educators, therapists, and team members.
